The Moringa Mint Flavour Pairing

We have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that most people aren’t fans of greens powders. They find the taste unpleasant, strong or grassy. But have you tried GLOWING GREENS Ayurvedic supplement powder? The good news to all BOTANISTRY friends is that our greens powder is an exception! The Moringa mint flavour pairing makes all the difference. Let’s learn more about the GLOWING GREENS natural health supplement and its taste profile.

All BOTANISTRY Blends contain five organic plant ingredients. Hence, GLOWING GREENS skin supplement powder contains the five ingredients of: Moringa, Peppermint, Green Tea, Curry Leaf and Black Pepper. Each ingredient has been purposefully selected for its function in skin health and how they work synergistically together according to Ayurveda. The herbal combination also gives the desired natural flavour and grounding experience. There are no artificial flavourings, preservatives, sweeteners or additives included. All ingredients are independently tested, then blended & packed in New Zealand.

What is Moringa & what does it taste like?

Moringa LeavesMoringa is acknowledged to be one of the world’s most nutrient-dense plants. The Food and Agriculure Organization of the United Nations describes Moringa as “the economically most valuable species… Moringa products have antibiotic, anti-trypanosomal, hypotensive, anti-spasmodic, anti-ulcer, anti-inflammatory, hypo-cholesterolemic and hypoglycemic properties.”

Moringa contains a range of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to support good health, including radiant skin. It has a high content of vitamin C, seven times that of oranges to be exact. This makes Moringa a superfood for glowing skin as vitamin C is known to help boost collagen production and enhance skin tone. It is also able to fight inflammation in the body. Moringa is even used topically for skin ailments such as dandruff, warts and athlete’s foot. A study using a topical cream with Moringa extract found that participants who applied it experienced improved skin elasticity and skin texture after three months.

Moringa TreeHow do people describe the taste of Moringa? Some say it tastes like matcha green tea and we note that reference too. Some call it earthy or herbaceaous, while others describe it as having a bitter taste with grassy undertones. The bitter taste is actually very important for our health according to Ayurveda. Bitter foods stimulate the digestive system and maximise nutrient absorption. This is because when the bitter taste receptors are activated, they release the necessary gastric juices and enzymes for digestion and intestinal muscle movement. In the traditional Ayurvedic practice, bitter foods are considered blood purifiers, liver cleansers and aid in fat digestion. They are also typically rich in antioxidants to protect the body from disease. Read more about the role of flavour in Ayurvedic traditions here.

What does GLOWING GREENS taste like?

Glowing Greens Powder“I had my first try of GLOWING GREENS yesterday. Honestly so nice and refreshing – that Peppermint is lovely in it! Genuinely tastes very nice unlike a lot of green powders!” Messages like this one from Laura really make our day. It means that our customers are enjoying not just the functional benefits, but also the flavour of our blends.

GLOWING GREENS Ayurvedic supplement powder is an earthy, revitalising blend to help support skin health. The bitterness from Moringa is countered by the sweetness from the Peppermint. The herbaceous taste of Moringa is mellowed by the refreshing Peppermint and hints of lemon from the Curry Leaf. Green Tea also rounds the Moringa taste, and there is a depth of flavour provided by the Curry Leaf and Black Pepper.

GLOWING GREENS skin supplement powder leaves an overall calming aroma-therapeutic effect and fresh aftertaste from the Peppermint. Belonging to the mint family, Peppermint contains a much higher menthol content (40%). Research studies have revealed that essential oils in Peppermint help to relax the digestive tissues, thus benefiting against bloating and indigestion. In aromatherapy, Peppermint is considered restorative and good for focus.

The Moringa and mint flavour pairing can be found in caffeine-free herbal teas. It is calming, cooling and leaves the palate fresh.
